Seeding Social Impact.

$25K MATCH

Previous Success.

In 2020, we raised $25K in philanthropic funds from a core group of stakeholders to seed momentum in the project as we moved into a second phase of documentation and disability community engagement.

The funds were used to continue production and hire a group of disability advisors to consult on the film and help build new partnerships—including capturing critical new storylines with our subjects that have become the backbone of the new film.

Importantly, the support of these individuals help us leverage a foundation grant ($45K), followed by production company partnership ($240K).

With the finishing funds for the film secured, we are turning out attention to our Social Impact Campaign.

Phase I: Foundation

We have secured $25K in private contributions to support Phase I of the Social Impact Campaign and are looking to raise a match of $25K. The activities funded in this phase include building the foundation of the campaign—strategy, core assets, and partnerships. Below are more details about the phases:

    • Hire impact campaign consultants to support in the design of a 18 month campaign.

    • Hire PhD curriculum designer to develop core educational materials from the film themes and related media—which can be adapted for different ages/audiences.

    • Hire impact campaign producer (part-time) to help build partnerships for campaign rollout.

    • Plan an execute a festival run—including post-screening programing (i.e. panels, workshops, etc.)

    • Support partner organizations to host community screenings—including pre-/post-screening programming.

    • Leadership and self-advocacy workshops undertaken with I/DD community stakeholders (e.g. SARTAC, Special Olympics, The Arc, etc.)

    • Leveraging distributor marketing dollars to drive audience engagement and augment the number of community screenings, workshops, and advocacy training opportunities.

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
